Jung Suwon Martial Arts

For Children, Adults and Families

I am deeply honored to have been recognized as one of the Top 10 Heroes of Korean Immigration History, commemorating the 120th anniversary of Korean immigration to the United States. This recognition is not just a personal achievement; it honors the extraordinary journeys of all Korean immigrants—journeys defined by courage, resilience, and the relentless pursuit of dreams.

In 1903, 102 courageous Koreans set sail for Hawaii, marking the beginning of a new life filled with hope and determination. Today, we celebrate over 1.8 million Korean immigrants in the U.S., each contributing to the rich fabric of our society.

This moment serves as a reminder for us all—whether you’re a martial artist, a student, a parent, or anyone striving for your dreams. The values embodied by these immigrants—perseverance, hard work, and community—are qualities that resonate in all aspects of life.

I want to extend my heartfelt congratulations to my fellow honorees, who have made significant contributions to American society through their dedication in various fields, including:

  • Michelle Park Steele, Congresswoman
  • Young Kim, Congresswoman
  • John Lee, LA City Councilman, District 12
  • Lucy Goh, Judge in the 9th Federal Court of Appeals
  • Dominique Choi, LAPD Chief Deputy Director
  • Ko Seok-hwa, Honorary Chairman of the Bank of Hope
  • Park Hyung-man, Chairman of the Manhee Koju Foundation
  • Nam Jin-woo, Pacific yacht crossing expedition leader
  • Kim Myung-jun, Mountaineer

Each of these remarkable individuals has faced challenges that shaped their paths, serving as shining examples of resilience and determination. Their stories inspire us all to confront our own challenges and strive for greatness, no matter the obstacles.

Recently, we participated in the 50th L.A. Korean Parade as part of the 50th Los Angeles Korean Festival, celebrating 120 years of Korean immigration. This event not only honored our history but also educated younger generations about the strength and richness of our heritage.

The journeys of these heroes remind us of the power of belief and determination. Each of us has the capacity to create change and impact our communities positively. Remember, no matter what hurdles you encounter, the strength to overcome resides within you.

He Can Do, She Can Do, Why Not Me!

Let’s embrace this spirit in our daily lives—breaking through barriers, striving for our goals, and uplifting those around us. Together, we can inspire a brighter future for ourselves and future generations.

Let’s carry this spirit in our lives and Break Through to Awesome!
