We have all set goals for ourselves that we wanted to achieve at one point or another. Whether it is something in our personal life or in our careers, we’ve set goals that we may or may not have achieved. When we set goals for ourselves, it is important to have a continual recommitment to your goal especially when the going gets tough. Achieving a goal is not a quick process, so it is important to audit ourselves and see where we are at in terms of progress and see where we did well and where we can improve on. During this self-evaluation, it is important to be honest with ourselves. If you don’t audit yourself when you are trying to create change in your life, before you know it, the negative habits will start to kick in and take over.
Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim teach us that sticking to our goals requires perseverance and discipline. This requires practice and wanting to achieve our goal and having the determination to fight for it. At Jung SuWon Martial Arts Academy, we are training ourselves in the physical aspect of stamina, endurance and discipline. However, during this process, we are also working on our mental state as well. We are telling our bodies to fight through the pain or the lack of breath to push through. Going through the challenges physically help us to maintain a stronger mindset. That level of discipline and determination needs to be implemented in our lives when it comes to the goals we set. We all have the ability to achieve the goals we set in our lives and it is a matter of persevering and having the discipline and will to achieve it.
