At Jung SuWon Martial Art Academy, Patience is the 7th Code of Ethics. It is the last step in the creative process of setting and achieving your goals. It is here that some impatient people may allow all their hard work to backslide.
Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim teaches us that one of nature’s most beautiful symbols of patience is the transformation – the metamorphosis – of the caterpillar into a butterfly. For a certain period, the caterpillar ingests food to enable it to grow to a certain stage. This is a distinct period of time that cannot be rushed. When that stage is reached, the caterpillar then forms a cocoon in which it must wait for another period of time. A transformation occurs in the quiet cocoon that cannot be rushed or disturbed. Then, at last, at the appointed time, a butterfly emerges. Like the process of a caterpillar’s metamorphosis, our own development and growth cannot be rushed. Often, we get disappointed when we hit a set back or as we face challenges that seem too enduring to overcome. However, it is all part of the process. It takes time to change and to get a deeper sense of who we are and how to reach our dreams and goals. It is crucial to know that true patience is knowing the truth and expecting the truth to manifest. And yes, it takes time. It takes effort. It takes energy, commitment, discipline, and consistency.
This is a reminder to us that it takes more than one step to morph into a butterfly and it doesn’t happen overnight, either. Patience is key!
Remember that, when old energy is CLEARING. New Energy is ENTERING. Great Things are COMING. Be Patient!
