tournament 2

To Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim and her students, this tournament is not about taking trophies home. Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim’s teaching has always been beyond just the materialistic form of martial art training, and not just punching and kicking, but what she teaches is about passing on the authentic and traditional spirit of Martial Art training. Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim gave the opportunities for the students that competed to expand their physical, emotional, mental and spiritual level through participating in this tournament event.

Every step of the way, the Jung SuWon students really learned and gained valuable lessons and experience. In fact, the whole trip was a great learning tool for them. Some of them used to get bullied, had lack of self-confidence, addicted to video games and attempted to commit suicide. Coming to this trip, they learned to get to know their true potentials, face their fears and gain self-esteem. Also, they never had the experience of learning to fly to a different state on their own without their parents taking care of everything for them. So as they traveled, Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim instructed to empower each student to print their own boarding pass and check their own bags, even the youngest warriors that are 5-year-old so they can learn how to take charge!

We are very proud of each one of these students who not only displayed an awesome representation of a true Jung Suwon warrior in front of many other students and masters of different schools, but they became a great inspiration and motivation to them as well! They also brought trophies: 8 gold, 5 silver and  1 bronze in forms, breakings, sparring, and weapons divisions.
